Happy May everyone!

This is the last official meeting of the 2025-2026 ASPE year!

Firstly, a huge thank you to all who have purchase sponsorships from us this year. We are so lucky to have your support to help our chapter provide fun activities for all of our members.

The St. Louis ASPE chapter is also hosting our ASPE Region 5 presidents meeting. If you’re unfamiliar this is when the ASPE presidents and vice presidents of the Region 5 chapters gather to discuss business. We’re looking for sponsors to help us cover costs of this meeting. Please reach out to your respective board member if you have any interest.

We also put together a welcome package for our visiting ASPE members. If you have product items your team is open to donating please reach out to your respective ASPE board member.

Presenter Bio:
Aaron Siegel is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with more than twenty years of experience in sales leadership and development in the water heater industry. He currently serves as the Business Development Director at Stiebel Eltron, a global leader in water heating, renewables, and heating manufacturing based in Germany. Aaron is a long-time member, advocate, and supporter of ASPE. He serves on the Atlanta ASPE Chapter Board as the Affiliate Liaison and is also part of the National ASPE Affiliate Advisory Committee.

CEU Topic:
Water conservation and plumbing codes' impact on water heaters related to applications and sizing.

Course Description:
This engaging one-hour course explores the evolution of water conservation, plumbing codes, and regulations with a focus on water heating systems. Participants will learn how codes and regulations impact plumbing design, system sizing, and product specifications. Using case-based applications, attendees will gain tools to balance compliance with performance.

Last Month's General Meeting Minutes

APRIL GENERAL MEETING

April 7, 2026

President Mitch Spillman welcomed everyone to the 8th meeting of the 2025-2026 ASPE year.  He then called the meeting to order.

There was one new member and first-time attendee, Howard Ahern, who is with Plumberex.

He then asked for self-introductions.  As the introductions were going on, he had people start going through the food line.

President’s Report

Mitch Spillman had the following to report –

  • ASSE is having their meeting in St. Louis April 14th-15th

  • 2026 ASPE Convention is in Oklahoma City October 8th-14th

  • 12 April Birthdays

  • 14 April membership anniversaries

  • As a reminder, please make sure you sign-in and print your name legible, marking if you need a CEU, PEU or PDH; if you are visitor or non-member, please list your email address; for St. Louis County credit, include your license number

  • The minutes are no longer read at the meetings to allow additional time for our speakers; they are listed on the website and in the newsletter before the meetings

MOTION:  To approve the December General Meeting Minutes. APPROVED.

Vice-President Legislative’s Report

Jack Fischer had the following to report – 

  • PCRC has completed the UPC review with the exception of Chapter 1 and the appendices

Vice-President Membership’s Report

JJ Nagel had the following to report – 

  • Thanks for RSVP’ing for the meeting; please let him know if you will be doing the Tech Session only so we can make sure there are enough seats

  • Chapter currently has 139 members; this ranks us 20th out of 65 Chapters



Treasurer’s Report 

David Notheis had the following to report – 

  • Chapter is financially sound

  • Please keep signing up for the sponsorship packages so that we can do things for the Chapter

Newsletter Editor’s Report

Crystal Kramer had the following report:

  • If anyone needs their Line Card updated, please send her the information

  • She is looking for companies that would be interested in presenting next year, letting her know of any topics you are interested in

  • He has been updating and adding things to the website – check it out

Affiliate Liaison’s Report

  • Golf registration is OPEN, should have seen an email with the details and it’s on the website

ASPE Young Professionals (AYP) Report

  • He is still planning on doing something at the FLIGHT Club, maybe in June

    • Once he gets details worked out, info will be sent out

  • She is starting to look for speakers for the 2026-27 year, letting her know of any potential topics

  • Crystal introduced today’s speaker Ken Rutherford, Senior Commercial Product Analyst for Amtrol; he will be discussing “Thermal & Hydronic Tanks for Water Applications”

    • After his presentation, he was given one of our Arch Awards
