TECHNICAL REPORT
February 2026
Hey everyone!
Our next chapter meetup is on February 3rd at Syberg’s on Dorsett. Good food, great people, and always a good time. Hope to see you there!
I am pleased to introduce our next speaker, Mike Piazza of Victaulic and will cover pipe movement and accommodation with grooved systems.
This presentation explores how piping systems respond to movement caused by thermal and structural forces. We will examine pipe expansion, contraction, and overall movement, with a focus on how flexible grooved couplings can be used to accommodate these conditions and support long term system performance. Topics covered include:
· Thermal expansion and contraction
· Expansion joints and loops
· Free floating systems
· Seismic accommodation
· Differential settlement
· Angular deflection
Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
If you have any ideas or would like to present at one of our upcoming monthly chapter meetings, please reach out to me or another board member. We are currently looking to fill this year. You can email me at [email protected]
